Join us for a hands-on creative workshop exploring the personal meanings of home through ceramic stamp-making and gel plate printing. Using words, symbols and cultural motifs as starting points, participants will create their own stamps inspired by the places, memories and experiences that shape their sense of home.
During the session, participants will learn how to make ceramic stamps using sgraffito, a technique for scratching into the clay surface to create patterns and textures, alongside additive techniques to build raised designs. They will then experiment with gel plate printing, using their handmade stamps to create layered compositions on clay slabs and paper.
The workshop will offer an opportunity to explore personal stories through material and image-making, while sharing ideas and experiences with fellow ArtClub members. The session will conclude with a collaborative printing activity, bringing individual designs together on a large communal sheet to celebrate the different stories and experiences of home. Participants will also have the opportunity to share their work over tea.
No previous experience is necessary. Participants will be guided through each stage of the process and will have the opportunity to create their own unique printed artworks to take home.
Please note: Ceramic pieces can be fired after the workshop upon request, subject to additional fees and arrangements for returning the finished pieces to participants. The firing fee is £3 per piece.
All materials and light refreshments will be provided. Advance booking is required.
