To launch the From Tokyo to Manchester weekend festival, esea contemporary and The White Hotel present Violent Magic Orchestra (VMO) — an extreme art music project from Osaka that fuses techno, black metal, industrial, noise, gabber, and contemporary composition. Imagine black metal colliding with Kraftwerk, or Aphex Twin reimagined with corpse paint.

VMO’s latest sonic incarnation, Rainbow from Angel Corpse (2024), released on Gabber Eleganza’s Never Sleep label, extends the project’s visceral live presence into a realm where body and brain, reality and fantasy, blur and dissolve.

Joining the night’s lineup is Berlin-based, Beijing-born multidisciplinary artist Tianzhuo Chen, aka AsianDopeBoys, known for his ecstatic, ritual-infused performances, alongside DJ Chiro, founder of fashion label OAwear, bringing high-impact sounds from the fringes.
