esea contemporary is pleased to host Gu Ling, Chinese curator and writer. This Residency is part of the "Developing Co-Curation Strategy for Emerging Curators in China and the UK" project, co-initiated by the De Ying Foundation with support from the British Council.

Gu Ling is the inaugural De Ying Curatorial Fellow for 2022-2023. Her recent research-based writing is featured in the fellowship's publication, titled 'A Conversation at an Ordinary Art Shop | The Survival Kit of Arbre in a Glocal Contemporary Art Ecology in China'. With over twelve years of experience in cultural and arts communication and management, Ling has served in key positions at the Rockbund Art Museum, Shanghai; the British Council, China; and most recently, the Design Society, Shenzhen. She provides content interpretation and communications consultancy to several professional art institutions.

In addition to her curatorial work, Ling is an active writer, translator, and editor, contributing regularly to both domestic and international art publications. She has also led a series of art writing workshops as an educational initiative for university students, aiming to explore the potential of writing in contemporary art.
